Idea Cellular's antecedents date back to 1995, when the Aditya Birla Group and AT&T (through Birla AT&T Communications – Maharashtra & Gujarat circle) and the Tata Group (through Tata Cellular - Andhra Pradesh circle) set up cellular networks.
